Alzheimer’s Service Project

October 10, 2020

Dear Aiken High School Rotary Interact Club Heros,

We have received an email from Mr. Richard Garcia of the Aiken Rotary Club asking for our help at the October 17, 2020, Alzheimer’s Walk in Aiken.

Here is a slightly-edited version of his email:

We would love to get volunteers from the Aiken High School Rotary Interact Club to help with the Promise Garden which will be in front of the Aurora Pavilion (up the Hill on the right just past the Emergency Room Entrance). We’d like them there at 8:30 Saturday morning 10/17 if possible. Leslie Addison, one of our Walk Committee members will be there to instruct them on what work needs to be done. Depending on the condition of the flowers for the garden, it shouldn’t take more than 30-45 minutes.

Unless the club has another preference it would be OK for the club to do its walk around the Duck Pond in front of the hospital as soon as they are through with the Promise Garden. Leslie is putting the hospital on notice that the club may possibly be walking there. As usual, we are so grateful to the Aiken High School Interact Club for the Volunteer support as well as fundraising support for this event. Please share with the Club that Alzheimer’s sufferers, their families, and their caregivers have been hit very hard by having the pandemic on top of this debilitating disease and it gives us an even greater sense of urgency to have our first survivor of this dreadful disease, They should be proud to know that in spite of an incredible increase in the demand for resources and support from the Alzheimer’s Association, the organization stepped up and met the challenge every step of the way. Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you again!
