Dear Aiken High School Rotary Interact Club Hero,

I hope you are being smart and staying safe and healthy. PLEASE take care of yourself!

Here’s why I am emailing you today, Interact Hero: One of our service projects this year is to bring TED to Aiken High. If you are not familiar with TED Talks, TED posts very interesting “talks” (short videos) online for free distribution under the slogan “ideas worth spreading”. Look here for some great examples of TED Talks. – https://www.ted.com/

On January 15, 2021, at 11:00 am, our Interact Club will be hosting a TED Circle. We’ll view a short TED Talk about intergenerational learning and will discuss it in an MS Teams meeting. That’s all there is to it. Simple and easy, but valuable and worth doing; a wonderful opportunity to learn with and from each other.

Still not sure what I mean? OK, here is the official description of a TED Circle:

TED Circles is an open community of small groups that meet for conversations about ideas. Hosted by volunteers, these weekly or monthly gatherings empower us to dream and debate. Each TED Circle is unique and all are virtually connected through the TED Circles platform – making it possible for local conversations to reach a global scale… To learn more, visit www.TEDCircles.com.

And here’s a short video about TED circles. – https://youtu.be/qvoShsSiHuI I recommend that you watch it.

Our circle will last 30 – 40 minutes and no preparation is needed. Of course, attendance is free.

Very cool, right?

Obviously, we need participants to make this happen. That means we need YOU. Could you please mark January 15, 2021, 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM on your calendar?

Again, that’s January 15, 2021, 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM.

You already know you want to join the circle? Great! You can sign up right now or any time before January 15 at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0B45AFA623A0F94-tedx <– Click that link, Hero! (Note: Limited to TEN participants.)

I hope you will be able to take part in this service project. I would appreciate it if you would do so.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this.

Sincerely,

P.S. Our Circle is open to all Aiken HS students, not only Interact Club members. We are never selfish! So, please feel free to invite friends from Aiken HS to join us for intelligent, engaging, respectful conversation.

What are “TED Circles”?

The Aiken High School Rotary Interact Club will be sponsoring TED circles in order to enable students to participate in interesting, engaging, respectful conversations about ideas worth spreading.

What, exactly, are TED Circles?
